If you’re like me, you probably laugh at most of these “National” Days. We’ve got National Grilled Cheese Day, National Talk Like a Pirate Day… and on and on.
But, as a mom of three, I do need to send a shout-out to a good friend, my morning coffee, on this National Coffee Day.
When I was a new mother, my own mom would tell me over and over “I don’t know how many times I drank cold coffee while you kids were growing up.” Then I remind her that the microwave was invented in XXXX and she says, “…Well, at least while you were babies then.”
Now I get it. I am sort of through that chaotic stage where you don’t get to drink your coffee fresh brewed and hot… but I still remember those crazed days.
Coffee, for me, is my trusty side-kick in parenting (oh, and yes, so is my husband!). Not only is it a mood and energy lifter, I start the day feeling, a bit selfishly, that I did something for ME. If the next thing for ME doesn’t happen for hours, at least I had my coffee.
Happy National Coffee Day!
