Can you think of 5 songs that help define you?

Try this…

One song from your early childhood

One song from elementary school

One song from your teenage years

One song from right after high school, or from college

One song from your life as an “adult”

Here are mine:

Early Childhood – “Side by Side” (Oh we ain’t got a barrel of money…):  My parents were the king and queen of car ride singing.  And since we lived hours from civilization, we did a LOT of singing…

Elementary School – “Material Girl”, Madonna: This was my first ‘favorite’ song I can remember my parents not ‘loving’, but I loved it anyway.  Somewhere, on a VHS cam from the 80’s is a video of my friends and I doing a dance routine at a talent show to this song. Thankfully there was no You Tube at the time…

Teenage Years – “Angel”, Aerosmith.  Ya know, the first boyfriend and all…

After High School, or in College – “The Best of What’s Around”, Dave Matthews:  I can’t hear this song to this day and not be transported back to Lafayette… in a good way.

Adulthood – “Anna Begins”, Counting Crows:  My husband and I loved this band and this song since the time we met in the late 90’s.  Very early in my first pregnancy, we decided this would be our first baby’s name (if she was a girl, of course).  Shortly after her birth, my husband sent out a picture of our brand new baby with the caption, “Anna Begins”.

What favorite songs have played a role in your life?
